January is right around the corner with eleven more months of 2015 nipping at its heels. Between year-end sales pushes, budget forecasting, and of course preparing for an extended visit with your in-laws, it can be daunting to find the time to reflect on the year that has past and plan for what’s in store.
Our advice to our clients is that it’s important to head into 2015 with a plan – setting your organization’s New Year’s resolutions, if you will.
In the past year, Arthur Diamond Associates was privileged to strengthen our relationships with many clients by helping them with everything from executive recruiting to proactive succession planning. By working with both large and small organizations across a variety of industries we’ve been able to develop unique insight into trends that impact a wide swath of our clients and their industries. Our advice to our clients is that it’s important to head into 2015 with a plan—setting your organization’s New Year’s resolutions, if you will. Below are just three thought starters to consider as you get started off on the right foot in 1Q 2015.
Bench strength
If your CFO decides to quit in the beginning of year, how is your bench strength looking to replace him/her or at least fill the void temporarily? Always be aware of the readiness of potential successors for key leadership positions and help develop this “bench strength” to be prepared for whatever 2015 throws your way.
Staffing
Are you anticipating major growth by gaining new accounts, a big grant, or a large uptick in sales? Does the outlook seem less optimistic this year than last? Either way, map out your anticipated staffing early to be able to act nimbly when the time comes to adjust staff size.
Strategic plan
Remember that strategic plan put in place three years ago? It’s time to dust it off and possibly redevelop it to guide your business for the next three to five years.
We hope 2014 was a fantastic year for you both personally and professionally and wish all the best for you and your organization in the year to come.
